LONG BEACH, CA., October 28, 2009—BI Nutraceuticals has expanded the function of its GRAS ingredient reference database by segmenting the company’s more than 200 GRAS offerings into 12 condition-specific, functional platforms. The new functional categories include: Energy; Immunity; Digestive; Cognitive; Heart Health; Anti-Aging; Eye Health; Bone Health; Weight Management; Sleep; Calming; and Joint/Inflammation.

"Not only does our GRAS reference database allow BI to provide accurate regulatory guidance to our food and beverage customer base, but it also provides increased access to information about which of these ingredients have been shown to manage specific health conditions, which is essential for successful and efficient product development, "noted Walter Postelwait, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, BI Nutraceuticals. "Our customers are looking for a full service partner that can provide expertise on product formulation, and this expanded GRAS reference database allows them access to a level of i nformation that is unparalleled in the industry."

In addition to breaking out its GRAS ingredients into 12 condition-specific, functional platforms, BI has also collected various preliminary reference data explaining why each ingredient aids and supports that particular health condition. The GRAS reference database is available exclusively to BI’s customers.
